1.Can I be contacted by friends and family?

2.Can we hire a suit for the formal nights?
Onboard Windstar there are no dedicated formal nights. Every night the dress code is “casual elegance”. Therefore there are no clothes for hire onboard any of the ships. Back to top
3.Can we send mail/post cards from the ship?
Whilst on-board check with the Front Office. All mail is subject to local postal procedures. Back to top
4.Can we set up an email account onboard?
Windstar Cruises do not have this facility, however they do offer full internet access which is dependent on the course and position of the ship (internet may not be available on transatlantic crossings).  Wireless internet connections are available on all three ships and can be accessed in public areas, staterooms and suites.  Laptops are available for rental at approx US$20 per day.  The msy Wind Surf has an internet facility with eight computer workstations. 5.Can you take alcohol onboard?
You can bring wine & champagne onboard. If you choose to consume this in the restaurants or bars, a USD$15.00 corkage fee will apply. Other alcoholic beverages such as spirits purchased in the ship’s stores or otherwise brought on board cannot be consumed. These bottles/containers will be collected and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the cruise. Back to top
6.Do we have to book for dinners/shows/activities onboard?
No, bookings are not required for meals or onboard activities. Back to top
7.Do we have to tip?
Tipping is referred to as Hotel Service Charges onboard Windstar Cruises.  A daily Hotel Service Charge of US$12 per person/per day (current as of January 2009) is automatically added to your onboard account.  If the service exceeds or fails your expectation, you can adjust your Hotel Service Charge accordingly with the Front Office at the end of your cruise. 8.How can we send gifts to family and friends onboard?
Gifts can be organised by completing a Bon Voyage gift form available through Travel the World or Windstar Guest Services Department. Orders must be pre-paid and received no later than 2 weeks prior to the sailing (depending on the gift). Back to top

10.How do we get our past passenger number?
You are a past passenger of Windstar Cruises once you have completed your first cruise with Windstar Cruises. Windstar Cruises call this ‘Foremast Club’. If you have misplaced your number go to www.windstarcruises.com and follow the links to the Foremast Club section. Back to top
11.How do we register online?
This function is not available. However, you can register with Travel the World to receive newsletters promoting our various products. Back to top
12.How long in advance can we book shore excursions?
Guests may pre-book shore excursions up to 5 days prior to sailing. After this, shore excursions can only be booked onboard and will be on a first come, first serve basis. Back to top

14.Is there a hair dryer on board?

15.What are the extra charges?

16.What currency (money) is used onboard the ships?

19.What is the dress code?
The tone for dinner and evening aboard is one of “casual elegance”. Imaginative, yet relaxed. Stylish, yet comfortable. During the day casual clothing that can be layered is best. Back to top

21.What is the smoking policy?
As of November 22, 2008, smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the ship including the staterooms. Smoking is only allowed on the outside decks in designated smoking areas. Back to top
22.What is the youngest age allowed onboard?
Infants aged 24 months or younger are not permitted on board. Back to top
23.What medical assistance is available onboard?
A doctor and limited medical facilities are available on board. However, if you take special medications, please bring an adequate supply with you together with a copy of the prescription from your doctor; it may not be available on board. Medical services and all medicines (except acetaminophen, aspirin and seasickness pills) dispensed by the ship's doctor will be charged to your shipboard account. If you become ill during the voyage and the physician is unable to care for your needs on board, you will be transferred to medical facilities on shore. Shoreside medical care and/or evacuation are not charged to your onboard account. You will be responsible for paying all of these charges. Back to top
24.What power points are used onboard?
US power outlets are used onboard. Voltage on the Wind Star and Wind Spirit is standard 110 AC. Voltage on the Wind Surf is 220; special converters are needed. Back to top
25.What time is embarkation?

27.Why do I need to pay Taxes / NDA’s on top of my cruise fare?
Taxes and NDA’s are charges imposed by Governments, port authorities and operators and relate to all aspects of your cruise. These amounts vary depending on the sailing and the ports that are entered. Back to top
