Cruising

Cruise Ship Guide

Before You Go

Documents required
For travellers departing the country, you MUST have the following items:

  • Passport
  • Outgoing Passenger Card
  • Boarding Pass

Please note that passengers arriving for embarkation on any one of our Cruiselines without proper documentation may not join the voyage and will not be entitled to a refund.

Insurance
We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance, as the liability of each company we represent is strictly limited. Travel insurance is available from Travel the World, or with your travel agent. For more information please contact us.

Customs Registration
If you are departing Australia with expensive items (such as computers, cameras and video cameras) and you intend to bring them back to Australia, register these items on the Goods Exported in Passenger Baggage form found on the Australian Customs Service website.

If possible, goods are to be carried in hand baggage and the officer who performs your immigration clearance at the outwards control point will check the goods and validate your form by signing and stamping it. If items are too large to be carried and must be included in your hold baggage, contact the closest Customs office for advice on where the goods may be inspected.

Once registered, you do not need to declare these articles to Customs on your return to Australia but you should keep the registration form handy in case Customs has any questions.

For jewellery and other goods not readily identifiable, carrying proof of ownership in the form of receipts or insurance documents will help if you are questioned about the goods on return.

You may take any personal goods out of Australia without having to pay duty/tax on these goods when you return (other than items that you purchased duty/tax free in Australia before your trip and which are in excess of your duty free concession).

Goods purchased duty or tax free in Australia must be taken with you and inspected at the departure point. You may also need to declare these on your return

This information has been obtained from the Australian Customs Service website.

Visas
Visas are required for most destinations. Any questions regarding current regulations can be directed to the nearest consulate or Travel the World will be able to advise you of the necessary visas you will need and process these for you.

Immunisation
Please contact your local phisician, Health Department and/or travel medicine clinic to discuss immunisation requirements for all countries on your itinerary. It is also a good idea to bring along a record of your immunisations.

Confirm your flight and reservations.
Please review your air and cruise documents to ensure that your tickets are correct. We recommend that you call the airline 72 hours prior to your depature time.

What to pack
There are several things to keep in mind once you have chosen your holiday. Guests travelling with any one of our representative companies enjoy a broad range of activities. Therefore, you'll want to pack appropriate clothing for everything from lounging by the pool to elegant formal nights (if any). Ensure that you dress for comfort, and determine whether you will be travelling in warmer or cooler temperatures, to pack accordingly.

Prepare your home.
Travel with peace of mind knowing that you've taken care of things at home.
