Exquisite New England with Tauck

Exquisite New England with Tauck

Our journey started in Boston with a transfer from the airport to our Tauck hotel, The Langham – an historic luxury hotel. Transfers are always included as part of your Tauck tour which is a real bonus when you arrive in a country you haven’t been to before. Tauck hotels are always the best you can find in the area and situated in the best location. The Langham was no different and is situated in the heart of the financial district within walking distance to the harbour front, exclusive shops and restaurants and the North End. On the first evening we joined our group for a welcome reception and dinner. This is always a highlight of any Tauck tour we’ve done as we have met so many wonderful friends from all over the world while travelling with Tauck. The next day we enjoyed an orientation tour around Boston including Beacon Hill, Boston Common, the North End and a visit to the USS Constitution Museum. Tauck always included free time as part of the itinerary in major cities so you can explore on your own.

On day three we travelled by coach to the “rude bridge” and sampled the wonderful and traditional New England Cuisine at the Salem Cross Inn, an impeccably restored colonial home. The next couple of days we got to understand the true meaning of fall foliage in The Berkshires. In Vermont our foliage tour included sights rich with American history. Day six brought a real highlight with a hot early balloon ride over Vermont. The landscape is just breathtaking. We also visited Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks where we tasted maple syrup and learned about how it is made from the tapping of the trees to the distillation of the sap. Mount Washington brought another highlight with more magnificent views and we also had the chance to meet scientists at the meteorological observatory who briefed us on their work. On day eight we travelled to Portland, Maine where we met a local lobsterman who took us out on his boat in the harbour and we were in for a treat that evening with dinner at a Bayley Island lobster house where we enjoyed the most amazing lobster. The rest of our tour was filled with days of amazing sightseeing in Ogunquit, a classic New England port and Acadia National Park – just to name a few.

From the first time we travelled on Tauck we knew that we will only ever travel with Tauck in the future. The Tauck difference is evident on every tour. Every detail is taken care of so you can completely relax and enjoy the destination. As always, our Tour Director was one of the highlights of the trip. They are always extremely knowledgeable about the area we are travelling in and their service to guests cannot be faulted. They treat each guest as an individual. The great thing about Tauck is that we always make really good friends while ontour. With some we have stayed in contact with for years. One of the best things about travelling with Tauck is that you pay one upfront price and you don’t have to pay for any ad-ons while on the tour. It just makes the whole experience so much easier. We can thoroughly recommend Tauck to anyone.
