We trust that we can in a short letter pass onto you the pleasure and the enjoyment we experienced in our five weeks away.

Firstly let us thank your Travel Advisor Sarah Moed for the hard work, effort and courtesy she showed to us during our extensive emails, visits and phone calls prior to our departure. It would be difficult to imagine the background time and effort she has put in to make our trip trouble free.

Also let us express our thanks to your company for the high standard you set in all the dealings we had with the company over many months of planning the trip.

Our accommodation during the trip was chosen to suit the length of stay in a particular place, and the convenience to airports, railway stations, the main CBD and the sightseeing we intended to do.

In New York we chose the Herald Towers on West Street, for its convenience to the CBD and railway station. The rooms were clean, well appointed and complete with a self contained kitchen, and convenience stores close by. In Toronto we chose the Hi Toronto Youth Hostel on the basis we were only staying one night and it was close to the station, clean, budget priced, linen supplied, and the tour coach for Niagara Falls picked us up at the door. In Niagara Falls we chose to stay in the Crown Plaza Hotel as this was offered as part of our tour package. This hotel was well appointed, and we were extremely satisfied with the service, and the overall stay. It was also well located to Niagara Falls and to the general CBD, shopping etc. In Vancouver we stayed in the Hi-Vancouver Downtown Youth Hostel. Again as this was a one night stay we opted to select something close to transport to the HAL Ship’s Canada Place Terminal. We found this accommodation clean, linen supplied, breakfast included, and generally the service and staff were very courteous. Certainly we could recommend this to others for a short term stay. In Alyeska we chose to stay in the Alyeska Resort, as again this was part of the tour package accommodation. The Resort is well placed for sightseeing and there is plenty to do in the short time we had there. The Resort lives up to its name and was certainly well appointed, extremely comfortable. As part of the Resort, you can go by cable car up to the top of the mountain to a restaurant, viewing platform, and a cafeteria. This is certainly well worth a visit if you are looking for accommodation in this area. For the Denali National Park tour we stayed in the Denali Lodge. We found these lodges clean, tidy, reasonably appointed, and comfortable. As we were away from the lodge for most of the time, we only needed a comfortable bed to come back to at night. During our time in Fairbanks we chose two different types of accommodation. We stayed at the Fairbanks Hotel on two nights, as part of the Cruise Tour #19. We found this hotel very clean, tidy, well appointed and the staff courteous. The other accommodation was at Alaska House Heritage House B&B. This was a quaint late 1890’s heritage house still furnished in the style of that era. We found the owners extremely warm, friendly, and the accommodation was excellent for the time we spent there. This is a totally different experience in accommodation and we would recommend others trying this concept.

As this was our first experience on a cruise ship, we were wondering what to expect. We spent the first day getting to know the facilities, what was available, where everything was placed etc. We cannot speak highly enough of the service, the courtesy shown by the staff and crew, and the standard of the food and facilities. We were amazed at the banquet that was provided for us as a thank you for being on the cruise. “This is the only way to travel.”

Now that we were “experienced cruise ship travellers” we thoroughly enjoyed the second cruise even more than the first. Again all that we have said above applies to this ship. We would certainly recommend Holland America and the cruise ships to all our friends.

We would particularly make mention of the Cabin Staff, the Restaurant Staff, and the general Front Office Staff for going the “Extra Mile” on many occasions to make our trip the most enjoyable holiday we have had.

McKinley Explorer Train:
We find it hard to describe the time we had on this train. The sights, sounds, and the general “togetherness” shown by the staff and other passengers were most enjoyable. This again was certainly a valuable highlight on our trip.

One last point ..... we have taken approximately 2500 photos and 120 short videos during the trip. The memory of this trip will certainly remain with us for a long time.

We thank Travel The World, your staff, Holland America Cruise lines, their staff for a trip of a life time. Thank You.
