Budapest to the Black Sea River Cruise
From the moment I entered the arrivals hall at Bucharest International Airport, I was completely in the capable hands of Tauck’s experienced crew.
I spent my first two days completely mesmerised by the history and culture of the Romanian people, learning about what they lived and fought for over the centuries. On my third day I set sail on my European river cruise with my fellow travellers for Budapest. Our riverboat, the Ms Swiss Jewel, really is the jewel in the crown along the Danube. With well-appointed cabins, spacious dining venues, and inviting lounges and bars, I never once felt overcrowded on this cruise of only 118 guests.
The incredibly knowledgeable and well-experienced Tauck Directors escorted me across this magnificent landscape as I experienced the fantastic culture and cuisine only this corner of the world has to offer.
The cruise stopped in the quiet town of Arbanassi for a delicious lunch in a family homestead overlooking the stunning Bulgarian countryside. After lunch, we ventured to the formal capital city of the Bulgarian empire, Veliko Turnovo, an area famous for the production of rose oil.
Our final days of this European cruise saw us sail up the Danube River right into the capital city of Hungary Budapest. This magnificent city is split in two by the Danube River – one side is Buda, the other is Pest.
This Tauck river cruise from Bucharest to Budapest was without a doubt one of the most rewarding and educational experiences of my life. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience Central Europe in style.
