While Laucala Island Resort was being built, the main aim was to preserve the original character of the Laucala Island. The architect of the 18-hole championship golf course found this task a particular challenge. However, the result is a beautiful golf course set against the mountain and meandering through natural vegetation which has been carefully integrated into the Laucala Island's old plantation area. Undulating fairways and challenging greens with strategic bunkers ensure a wonderful balance for the experienced player and less accomplished player alike. The sparkling tides of the Pacific Ocean and natural rock formations offer spectacular views from some of the elevated tees. Finally the PGA professionals available to assist the golfing guests make this a truly wonderful golfing experience.

The course was designed by Scotsman, David McLay Kidd, who is renowned for his award winning Bandon Dunes in Oregon, USA. David has also been commissioned to design and build the new Castle Course at St Andrews in Scotland. The par 72 layout offers a variety of tee box options which create the perfect balance for golfers of all skill level, challenging to the more accomplished player, yet fun and user friendly for those who are being introduced to this wonderful game.
