Amanusa – Bali, Indonesia

Amanusa – Bali, Indonesia

Near a soft white beach and secluded in exotic fragrant foliage nestles one of Bali’s most intimate and exclusive resorts, Amanusa.  It is a visual feast, yielding panoramic access to the indigo nuances of the Indian Ocean and complemented by Bali’s striking and richly foliated volcanic landscape. This serene resort is perfectly placed for shopping trips and the nightlife of Sanur, Legian and Seminyak.  Those who wish to just unwind in spectacular splendour can while away their days at the beach club or the manicured golf course, set against an incandescent aquatic playground and surrounded by an aura of spirituality.

The Resort

Amanusa has been designed with a passionate eye in order to maintain the ethos of Bali’s strong spiritual roots and physical beauty and encourages guests to unwind in peace and a soothing setting, with suites that have appointed the 21st century with acute subtlety.

Only 15 minutes drive from Denpasar International airport, the process of relaxation begins swiftly while the welcoming Amanusa staff take care of the ‘seams of time’. Nearby, the bougainvillea-lined streets of Nusa Dua are dotted with boutiques and memorable restaurants and inspiriting cultural pursuits are only a bike, walk or chauffeur-driven-drive from the resort.

As an aid to total convalescence, resident masseuses are on hand offering Balinese treatments within the comfort and privacy of the guests’ spacious suites.

A smooth manicured golf course, one of the most revered in Asia, separates the resort from the enticing ocean.

Cuisine

The Terrace offers sweeping views of Bali embracing the golf course, the Indian Ocean, Nusa Dua and the Bukit, which is Bali’s southern peninsula.  The Terrace serves Thai and Indonesian cuisines with the addition of Continental fare during the day.  Open only for dinner, the Italian Restaurant offers seating in an elegant room with high ceilings and leaded windows as well as a romantic outdoor courtyard among flowering frangipani trees and overlooking the pool.  Framed by a trellis laden with bougainvillea blossoms, an alternative dining venue is located next to the swimming pool and provides a more informal environment.  Here, the dining is alfresco beneath a covered colonnade and lunchtime fare includes sandwiches, salads and traditional Indonesian snacks.  The Bar is opposite the Terrace on the same level and offers similar views.

The Beach Club

The Beach Club is located on the beachfront of the Bali Golf and Country Club.  The Club consists of nine bales, each with two sunloungers.  Refreshments, light meals, showers and washrooms are provided.  The white-sand beach is one of Bali's best and is fringed by a coral reef that provides a safe lagoon for swimming and seasonal water sports.  The Beach Club is also the setting for candlelit barbecues and sunrise breakfasts can be enjoyed in the privacy of the bales.

Library

The Library specialises in books on Indonesian art and culture.  A selection of novels, magazines, newspapers, CDs, DVDs and board games as well as a laptop for Internet access are also available.

Meetings and Events

The resort has meeting facilities for up to 30 people and is a special venue for occasions like weddings, birthdays and family reunions.  Amanusa's boardroom is two rooms in one - a conference facility for informal meetings and a reception area for coffee breaks and cocktails.  Facilities include direct lines for fax and telephone, a video and laser-disc system, satellite TV and a computer link to the projector and the big screen.  For guests wanting a deeper insight into Balinese life and culture, Amanusa will arrange seminars or presentations.  Amanusa can also assist in arranging corporate tennis or golf tournaments.

Boutique and Gallery

Balinese and Indonesian jewellery, indigenous handicrafts, gift items and resort wear are available for purchase.

Massage and Beauty Treatments

Amanusa's resident masseuses mix traditional Balinese massage with Swedish massage and acupressure.  Massage is available in the privacy of your suite, in the specially designated massage suite or on one of the Beach bales.  Body treatments as well as facials, pedicures and manicures are also available.  Amanusa's Reiki master is on hand to redress any energy imbalances and a reflexologist is available once a week.

Swimming Pool

The large 30m blue pool is bordered by a bougainvillea-covered trellis, flowering frangipani trees and a high paras-stone wall.

Tennis Centre

Amanusa’s two, all-weather tennis courts are floodlit for evening play.  Attendants are available as playing partners or ball boys.  A bale is located between the courts for shady breaks of iced chrysanthemum tea and other refreshments.

Internet

Wireless broadband connections are available in all resort accommodations and public areas.

Suites

Amanusa’s design is influenced by ancient Hindu poetry, the surrounding miles of breathtaking views and the spiritual and naturally peaceful Balinese lifestyle.  Enclosed in a secluded self-contained retreat, Amanusa is a relaxing microcosm of all things Balinese and seeks to ensure a complete respite from the hectic pace of the world at large.  As a result, rooms are spacious and authentically decorated in a soothing palette of browns, beige, cream and honey.

All the 35 thatched-roof suites have wooden four-poster beds, draped in white veils and with detailed attention to the essential ingredients for peaceful sleep.  The cavernous bathrooms feature sunken baths with directional lighting which enhances the foliage alongside.  Each suite is enclosed in a sensuous tropical setting and an outdoor shower is built into a high paras-stone wall, seeding soft moss and fragrant white flowers beneath an overhang of ochre and salmon-pink bougainvillea.  The walled garden courtyards are private and romantic, offering day and night alfresco dining.  Every suite has an outdoor terrace with a comfortable daybed beneath a protective canopy.  Elevated walkways link the suites for easy access to the resort’s extensive facilities and eight suites have private swimming pools.  Wireless broadband connections are available in all resort accommodations and public areas.
