Europe on the Carnival Magic

We had a fantastic holiday 19/5/11 to 11/6/11 thanks to Sarah Moed and her excellent organising. We stopped at Singapore on our way to Barcelona to board our wonderful cruise ship, Carnival Magic, and stayed at Riverview hotel Singapore for one night. It was really nice and comfortable and central.
We flew Emirates who were really good, you couldn’t fault them and because they don’t fly into Barcelona we had one night in Madrid at the HighTech Airport Hotel which was ok and close to the airport as we only wanted to sleep ready to fly to Barcelona the next morning and board our ship.
We had a wonderful time cruising around Italy for 12days, its hard to say where we enjoyed the most, probably Venice, it was amazing seeing the whole city surrounded by water and canals and having gondola rides. The whole cruise was just fantastic, entertainment, food, service etc. It was really sad to have to get off after 12days - it felt like home.
We then flew to Paris as the whole idea of the trip was that I wanted to see the Eiffel Tower! We stayed 4 nights at the Timhotel le Louvre in Paris which wasn’t the best especially coming straight from a brand new cruise ship. We weren’t very impressed so asked for another room which they gave us the next day. It was much nicer and roomier and faced onto their courtyard so we felt much safer. In general it was a very old hotel but comfortable and VERY central which was great as that was what I had asked Sarah for. We had a lovely time touring around Paris on their hop-on hop-off buses, it’s a great way to look around and see everything. We had dinner on the Eiffel Tower on Saturday night which was just wonderful; I couldn’t believe I was actually there! It’s really an amazing building and looks absolutely wonderful at night all lit up and gold, I didn’t want to go home.
We then flew to Dubai for 2days to break the trip home. We stayed at Suitehotel Mall of the Emirates which was really lovely and had a huge room with table and chairs, lounge suite etc and were only half the price of the one in Paris but I guess you pay for the position in Paris. We toured around on hop-on hop-off buses again but boy was it HOT!! I have never been so hot, it was 48 and humid the day we arrived and 44 and humid the next day. They have amazing big shopping centres all lovely and cool (air-conditioning!), our hotel was only a short walk from one which was good. Apparently the time to go to Dubai is Dec/Jan in their winter when its 24 not 44. So thanks again for a well planned wonderful holiday, Marilyn and John.
